Both of my kids love funky hair colours. Over the years we have tried so many, but I stopped allowing it because it always stained the furniture, or took too long to wash out.

After so many fails, and a lot of stain scrubbing, I found that my hairdresser carried some and decided to make it my last ditch effort. They worked like a dream. They are called Streakers. Streakers are like little mascara wands and come in an electric variety of colours that pop, blend easily and best of all, the wash out easily but are colourfast when my kids are doing summersaults on the couch.

I got mine from my hairdresser, but if yours doesn’t carry them, I see on the product website that they are on sale 50% off.

The link to the site is HERE. (This is not a sponsored post, I am just happy to share these, they really are great!)

It is a really fast process, about 5-7 minutes for multiple colours/a full unicorn head, and as few as 30 seconds for a little pop from a few streaks. Even my son loves these.

Here is how I did the a full head of streaks on my daughter.

  1. Pin up a good chunk of hair to do a lower layer first.

  2. Use wand to streak one color about an inch apart from one side to the other.

  3. Repeat in a pattern with the other colours you have (I used pink, green, blue and purple).

  4. Let dry for 2-3 minutes and then brush to blend it.

  5. Take down top chunk of hair, and repeat the process on the top. If you don’t want to have lines along your hair part you could pin a small bit of hair along your part up or just use a different part when applying and the re-part it after. I didn’t bother with that.

I did this the night before school. I did put a towel on my daughters pillowcase just in case she drooled and the moisture let the colours bleed, but it still looked great in the morning, with no staining. We have often left it for three or four days without any issues and then honestly it washes out like a dream.
